Professional Resume
An experienced legal professional and practitioner with a commercial and tax edge. My initial legal experience was as counsel at the Calcutta High Court followed by a four year stint in London working with a city firm and then going on to co-found ALMT Legal in London as a law firm advising exclusively on Indian laws. I moved from London to Mumbai in 2001 to set up ALMT’s first Indian office in Mumbai which was followed by lateral mergers and expansion pan India and globally. After 13 years in a successful law firm business I decided to retire from the partnership and focus on arbitration as an Advocate Arbitrator. From the end of 2015 I have refined my focus to being a tax counsel representing clients in tax litigation and advice being based out of my home city Kolkata..
Over the years I have advised clients in a wide ranging industry spectrum from manufacturing,publishing, technology, infra structure, telecom, shipping, aviation and international trade.
I have presented papers and been speaker at conferences of professional bodies such as the International Bar Association (IBA), the Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), International Air Transport Authority (IATA), Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
